Presentata a Venezia 81, debutterà l’11 ottobre su Apple Tv+ con i primi due episodi, Disclaimer – La vita perfetta, serie in sette episodi basata sull’omonimo romanzo dell’autrice Renée Knight e diretta dal regista premio Oscar Alfonso Cuarón.
Catherine Ravenscroft (Cate Blanchett) è una celebre giornalista documentarista con un marito adulatore (Sacha Baron Cohen) ed un figlio ventenne col quale fatica ad avere un rapporto (Kodi Smit-McPhee). Quando le arriva un libro misterioso, un thriller intitolato “The Perfect Stranger“, Catherine lo legge e capisce subito che parla di lei e, più specificamente, del suo passato, tanto da rivelare un oscuro segreto che ha tenuto nascosto per decenni.
Disclaimer presenta tutti i punti fermi della regia di Cuarón – riprese estese, diversi stili di movimento della camera – ma gli consente, altresì, di esplorare, in scrittura, nuovi e non lineari livelli di narrazione.
La struttura della serie, infatti, disarmerà gli spettatori sin dall’inizio, poiché vengono presentati tre diversi gruppi di personaggi in due linee temporali. Inoltre, coesistono nella storia due narratori fuori campo, con un terzo introdotto rapidamente.
Disclaimer riflette, sin da subito, sul potere di costruire narrazioni e, in particolare, su quanto ciò possa rivelarsi pericoloso. Si addentra, quindi, in emozioni spinose come la lussuria e la vendetta e lo fa in un modo quasi “asettico”, come se gli attori non fossero che un elemento visivo da manipolare. Ciò crea una sorta di effetto disturbante che, invece di allontanare lo spettatore dalla visione, lo cattura e lo seduce man mano che la serie procede.
I tecnicismi della regia e della fotografia sono quasi da manuale: colpisce l’effetto iride che restringe l’apertura della macchina fotografica per isolare una porzione specifica dell’immagine e l’uso della fotografia a fuoco profondo, che assicura che ogni centimetro del fotogramma sia reso in modo chiaro e dettagliato.
Riuscendo ampiamente a mantenere la suspense – addirittura cambiando rotta narrativa dopo il 4º episodio – e grazie a reparti tecnici di alto livello, Disclaimer è senza ombra di dubbio una serie da guardare e da amare, fosse solo per la bellezza visiva che ne consegue.
